Crosses have been used as symbols by all cultures such as four seasons and four directions but for Christians, it is the symbol of Salvation. Each corner of this cross has a figure in it, but since there is no known information about the cross - it could be Saints, Mary, or Jesus.
It is said that the Gothic Cross represents the intersection of Heaven – or the Spiritual World – and Earth – or the Material World. The four quadrants arms/quadrants of the cross are representative of either the four elements (Air, Water, Fire, Earth) or the four main directions (West, East, North, South) (Taken from Dacarli.com)
However, it is representative of a number of basic crosses that date earlier. This cross measures 1-1/2 inches wide and slightly longer with the ring. They come in sterling silver, white bronze, or bronze.
This one can be worn from a ribbon or chain, for living history or for everyday.
If you need more photos, just ask. My inspiration is from the portrait of the French Girl dated to the 1750s that was at auction at Christies.
