You receive a pair (two) brass buttons that measure 7/8 inches and are connected.

The first pair is an amazing example of gold foil under the rock crystal. One of the buttons you see the woman clearly, the other the gold foil has deteriorated but it is the same woman. It looks like the profile of Queen Anne. You can still see the brass on one, the other has darkened on the back and is smooth. (WH-11)

The second pair is of rock crystal as well, same size as the WH-11, but looks to have hair inside but I think that is the foil that has deteriorated as it looks to have also been profiles of a woman or man. The back has a basket weave pattern on it, and has oxidized. (WH-12)

Seen most commonly in rings and ribbon slides (worn at the neck or cuff), oval shaped bezels with faceted crystals reflected the light in the same way as a faceted diamond would. Underneath, gold wire cypher initials being flanked by memento mori symbolism and placed on top of hair, material or vellum was a way to display identity and relationship status through a jewel on the self."
