This listing is a collaboration with Museum Reproductions! I am in love with their creations, but will change a few of the elements to make them more historically accurate.
These are circa 1800 blue glass earrings adapted from a pair that formerly belonged to Dolley Madison, wife of James Madison, the fourth president of the United States. The simplicity of the earrings is typical of the early 19th century. Colored glass (or paste) was widely used in place of precious gems. This comes from the collections of the Daughters of the American Revolution Museum.
They are made with vermeil earwires and decorative sides (which is gold plating over sterling silver), blue glass, and are 3/4" high by 1/2" wide.
My collaboration supports the Daughters of the American Revolution Museum.
