This listing is a collaboration with Museum Reproductions! I am in love with their creations, but will change a few of the elements to make them more historically accurate (clasp).

This necklace was inspired by the art of ancient Greece and Italy. The formal symmetry and simple elegance of classical Greek and Roman jewelry evolved during the Hellenistic period into more lavish designs. The Etruscans of central Italy further enhanced jewelry design of the classical world by incorporating delicate filigree and granulation beads. Necklaces like these were also worn in the late 18th century up into the 19th and 20th.

I offer two styles in this listing. The first (shown) is a pewter chain and findings with gold finish, freshwater pearls, iolite, aventurine and citrine nuggets with a Lobster claw closure and is 16 inches long. I can change the clasp if you so desire. I also have matching earrings available that include the iolite. They measure 1-1/4 inches long and have gold-plated earwires. (E-0634) I'm currently out of the iolite offering, but if interested, please convo me.

The second necklace is 16 inches long in amethyst and peridot with pewter chain and findings with a gold finish. It is normally made with a lobster clasp but now has a T-bar and ring clasp. It should have only rings and/or a slide clasp if wearing during the Georgian period or earlier. (This one is currently out of stock)

We start seeing this style necklace in the later half of the 18th century and into the 19th as shown by the portrait of Elizaveta_Alexeevna by Vigee Lebrun, 1802.
