I have a reproduction of the Cheapside Hoard salamander available from Museum Reproductions here - they had discontinued him but it is back! It measures 2 inches long by 3/4 inches long - and includes green glass and clear crystals, gold plated and with white enameling pewter. It is a lovely little thing!
The last photo is of the original salamander. Per the Museum of London website it states "This enameled gold hat ornament in the form of a salamander is one of the Cheapside Hoard’s most iconic pieces. The enameling on the front shows an open mouth with tiny black flecks resembling teeth. The pin is decorated with cabochon emeralds from Colombia, and the tail contains table-cut diamonds. The underside of the pin shows the quality of enamelwork during the late 1500s and early 1600s. Notice the complex curved pins that allow the wearer to twist the salamander into place on the hat.
