This listing is for a steel framed glass locket in silver or gold plate. It is an option from the sterling silver version I have in another listing.
Mourning jewelry, which includes brooches, rings, clasps, and lockets incorporates hair and/or portraits from the deceased or living loved one, decoratively woven or part of a cipher or picture. These lockets can encase photos, flowers, hair, or whatever you like. You will normally see those worn on a ribbon or necklace worn over the heart. These have a really nice historic look to them.
They measure 1-1/2 inches long including the ring on the top and 1-1/4 inch round. The sides are plain, and the piece can be opened by twisting it counter clockwise. The glass convex outwards leaving quite a bit of space inside to put ashes, hair, a pressed flower, picture on both sides, picture or hair behind it, etc. The inside is about 5mm in depth which is about 1/8th inch.
