These are so reminiscent of the shirt or kerchief buckles of the 18th Century for men or women. I have found some lovely vintage brooches. They can be worn in any century for costuming, reenactments, living history, cosplay, or even a bit of fun for Steampunk! Don't just think of shirt or kerchief - think gown, hats, suits, dresses, hair decoration! These are gorgeous vintage pieces and some are marked.
They vary in measurement. from 1/2 inch to 1-1/2 inches round. The red rose brooch is 1-1/4 inch square. The bow is 1-3/4 inch wide.
They are all unmarked, and date from the 1950s to 1970s.
Inspiration portraits are -
- Mrs George Turner by John Singleton Copley, 1767
- George Gordon Byron 6th Baron Byron by Richard Westall, 1813, National Portrait Gallery UK
