This listing shows the reproduction of original cuff links (or sleeve buttons as known in the 18th and 19th centuries) that were produced after General George Washington passed away in 1799 to honor him. The original pair was found near Sackets Harbor, New York. I was lucky enough to purchase them most recently via auction. These would have been made at the end of 1799 and early 1800. What a wonderful piece of history!
You are ordering a set (two pair) of Washington Mourning cuff links in either brass or sterling silver. The reproductions are just as the original. Those ordered will be marked with a maker's mark to identify that these are reproductions. They are 5/8" long by 1/2" wide.
Based upon metals prices, the prices of these will fluctuate as I purchase them, but I will try my best to keep them affordable.
The photo has me wearing them on my shift in memory of my character's son who had died while interpreting at Whitehall in Annapolis, Maryland. These can also be worn in loving memory of someone.
