Item - N-0005 - Sterling Silver Antique Glass Pendant or Mourning Locket. This listing has antique glass enclosed in a new sterling silver frame.
Mourning jewelry, which includes brooches, rings, clasps, and lockets incorporates hair and/or portraits from the deceased or living loved one, decoratively woven or part of a cipher or picture. These lockets can encase photos, flowers, hair, or whatever you like. You will normally see those worn on a ribbon or necklace worn over the heart.
They measure 1-1/2 inches long and are 3/4 to 1 inch wide depending on the type. I have been successful getting 1/8 teaspoon of flaked herbs inside to see how much could fit. The oval has a scalloped details on the sides, the round has a greek key detail (photos five and six). The last two photos show the detail on the round locket and oval (last photo). The rest are plain on the sides. They have a round "washer" that screws down onto a small pin that allows it to close securely. You can see it just below the bail.
Due to silver prices, the price of these lockets may fluctuate. You will receive one (1) locket.
