R-0103 - Vintage "Toi et Moi" Sterling Silver Citrine and Diamond Chip Statement Ring, November

I found this "toi et moi" ring in an antique store in Annapolis. It is a two-stone jewelry style that dates back to the 1790's meaning "you and me." It has two gemstones set side by side, sometimes two round, two pear shaped, etc., to symbolize the union of two people. A very unique ring in perfect vintage condition.

It is a size 8. It does have markings inside that include, ".925" "CHINA" "C7" and a couple of maker's marks. Looking up when China started to make these styles rings was in the late 1990's. The C7 points to Diamonique Cubic Zirconia (CZ) so the sides have high-grade CZ accents and the yellow stones are natural citrines. Set in the sterling silver it is really gorgeous. I did not take photos of the markings but they are there. Since this ring is sterling silver, you could have it sized in a local jewelry shop.

According to Sotheby's, "the design dates back to at least 1796, when Napoleon Bonaparte famously proposed to Joséphine de Beauharnais with a ring featuring a pear-shaped diamond and a pear-shaped sapphire."

It would be really neat to know the story of this ring, with citrine being the November birthstone. It reminds me of rings from the 1970's. Was it for a relationship of two born in November, one a Scorpio and the other a Sagittarius? The ring ended up in an antique store.

I hope this can find a new home for someone who has a November husband or wife, significant other, maybe two sisters, or best friends - or just someone who loves this deep citrine color. It is surely a more modern design, and I think vintage (for jewelry that means at least 20+ years old).
