The GEORGE 18th century reproduction knee buckles were designed by me based upon an original in my personal collection.
These are exact reproductions that are solid cast, plated over copper that won't bend or break. They come in a shiny silver, antiqued silver, shiny gold, antiqued gold, and gunmetal. They perfectly match the JAMES or FORGET ME NOT shoe buckles in separate listings.
You will receive a pair (two). They are made with glass rhinestones, and measure 1-5/8 inches tall by 1 inch wide. They will accommodate a knee strap that is up to 1 inch wide. They are easily attached and removed to accommodate all manner of fabric. The prongs are not super sharp, so any fabric that may need a hole punched could possibly need reinforcement behind that fabric. The anchor goes through the breeches "button" hole in which to connect them to the fabric.
They can also be worn on a hat or as a sash buckle if so desired.
Inspiration portraits are:
- Captain (later Admiral) Sir Hyde Parker by George Romney at Melford Hall
- The last photo is of the original surrounded by the reproductions. Amazing detail on these reproductions.
