This is an unusual type of barrette with a larger snowflake! Put these lovlies together I was able to put together, and now offer to you. I personally wear modern barrettes in my hair with decoration on them during my living history events. Once they are in the hair, you cannot see the modern part of it! They are silver-plated and have clear rhinestones.
These are a shape that would be perfect to lift the hair on the back of your neck, put on a wig in strategic places, or to just wear everyday! These remind me of and are similar to the stars worn by Empress Elisabeth of Austria by Franz Xaver Winterhalter, 1865 as shown in this listing. The wonderful thing about Empress Sissy's hair is that it was all hers. Her hair was so long it took an entire day to wash and dry. You can see it is pulled up and braided around her head. SO beautiful!
