Perfect for many different things, but the inspiration was made for an 18th or 19th Century watch chain (also known as equipage or a chatelaine).

This is made in a gold-plate over brass pieces with a hook on the back that attaches over your petticoat. The hook is about 3/4 inches wide and almost 2 inches long. The back is plain and lays nicely so it won't rub. It is made with vintage and new pieces. It is also made to emulate those of the time period. The swivels are vintage and really simulate originals as best as possible. This listing has three styles, the drop down will identify by showing you the photo for each one that you select.

The portraits are of real people, one was Martha Parke Custis (Patsy), Martha Washington's daughter with Daniel Parke Custis. The other is unknown at this time but I have named her Amelia in the drop down menu.

Hang your watch from it on the center chain - and add a key, and seal on either side or whatever trinkets you wish. These are some of my most accurate watch chains yet! :-) As I continue my quest for a good construction, rings may be different on the one purchased.

The last photo is the inspiration chain - picture from How the book Watch was Worn, A Fashion for 500 Years by Genevieve Cummins. I own several original watch chains from the 18th century, and they are usually not long. The royalty and the gentry/middling classes had vastly different styles so be mindful of that with your impression.
